Matchday 1 results — where every team stands
The league phase kicked off on 16–17 September 2026 with some statement results. Juventus crushed N.E.C. Nijmegen 5-0, Crystal Palace beat Lech Poznań 4-0 and Beşiktaş dismantled Marseille 4-1 in Istanbul. Benfica won 2-0 away at Milan, a result that puts real pressure on the Rossoneri before their trip to Salzburg.
- Wednesday 16 Sept: Ararat-Armenia 1-4 Sparta Praha, Omonia 1-0 Celta, Milan 0-2 Benfica, Leverkusen 2-0 Celje, Hapoel Beer-Sheva 0-0 GNK Dinamo, Olympiacos 2-1 Jagiellonia, Anderlecht 1-2 Lyon, Sturm Graz 0-0 Rennes, Sunderland 1-0 AZ Alkmaar.
- Thursday 17 Sept: OFI Crete 2-0 Hoffenheim, Levski Sofia 0-1 Salzburg, Beşiktaş 4-1 Marseille, Celtic 1-3 Ferencváros, Crystal Palace 4-0 Lech Poznań, Viktoria Plzeň 0-3 Union SG, Juventus 5-0 N.E.C. Nijmegen, Lillestrøm 1-2 Torreense, Real Sociedad 1-2 Bournemouth.
With only eight league phase games per club, every point matters: the top eight go straight to the round of 16, while teams from 9th to 24th enter the knockout play-offs. A second defeat for Milan or Celtic on Matchday 2 would already make the road much harder.
Five Europa League games you should not miss
1. Salzburg vs Milan (18:45). Milan lost at home to Benfica and cannot afford another slip. Salzburg won 1-0 in Sofia and are always dangerous at home, so expect a high tempo from the first whistle.
2. Celta vs Juventus (21:00). Juventus arrive full of confidence after their 5-0, but Celta lost narrowly in Cyprus and will want a reaction in front of their own fans in Vigo.
3. Lyon vs Crystal Palace (18:45). Two clubs who won on Matchday 1 meet in France. Palace scored four against Lech Poznań and Lyon won in Brussels — this could decide who fights for the top eight.
4. Benfica vs Celtic (21:00). Benfica are flying after winning at San Siro, while Celtic need to bounce back from a 1-3 home loss to Ferencváros. A classic European night in Lisbon.
5. Sparta Praha vs Lillestrøm (18:45). For our many customers in Norway this is the game of the night. Lillestrøm lost 1-2 to Torreense at home and face a Sparta side that scored four in Armenia. See our IPTV Norge guide for Norwegian channels and setup.
Which channel shows the Europa League?

In the UK the Europa League is shown on TNT Sports, in the United States on Paramount+, in Germany on RTL+, in France on Canal+ and in Italy on Sky Sport and DAZN. Best Vision IPTV includes the major sports channels from 83 countries in a single subscription, so you can pick the channel you prefer and the commentary language you like.
The same subscription also covers the Champions League 2026/27, domestic leagues and our full season guide to the Europa League 2026/27 on IPTV. For background on the competition itself, see the UEFA Europa League page on Wikipedia.
